The best riads in Marrakech for a first stay
Five real Medina riads selected for location, guest feedback and a clearly explained trade-off.
Guide checked on 13 September 2026. Prices, opening times and availability can change; confirm them on the official website before booking.
For a first stay, a good riad needs to offer more than a beautiful courtyard. We look for a location that can be understood, enough recent feedback, reception support for the arrival and facilities described without ambiguity. All five properties below are in the Medina, but they suit different trips.
How to read this selection
This is not a league table or the result of anonymous stays conducted by Portovierno. We compared public Booking.com listings on 13 September 2026 by score, review volume, location, access, breakfast and useful facilities. The links are ordinary links with no active affiliate tracking.
Dar Anika — the straightforward choice near Jemaa el-Fna
Dar Anika is on Riad Zitoune Lakdim. Its listing places it roughly five minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna and close to Bahia Palace, with a courtyard pool, terrace and 24-hour reception.
Booking.com showed 9.3/10 from 485 reviews and 9.8 for location. Why choose it: convenient access to the southern Medina and arrival support. Check: room size and what “indoor pool” means in this particular riad. See the listing and conditions
Riad Les Nuits de Marrakech — closest to the square
In Derb Dabachi, this riad is about one minute on foot from Jemaa el-Fna according to its listing. It offers air-conditioned suites, a terrace and a plunge pool with hot tub.
The listing showed 9.9/10 from 789 reviews and 9.9 for location. Why choose it: an exceptionally central position with substantial feedback. Accept that: the surrounding area is intense; ask exactly how quiet the room is. See the listing and conditions
Riad l’Oiseau du Paradis — the rounded compromise
Around ten minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna according to its listing, this riad has a roof terrace, indoor plunge pool, hammam and restaurant. It has the largest review volume in the selection.
Booking.com showed 9.4/10 from 2,337 reviews. Why choose it: extensive feedback, a broad set of facilities and a central position without sitting directly on the square. Check: exact access and hammam conditions. See the listing and conditions
Riad Kheirredine — service and a higher-end stay
In Sidi Ben Slimane in the northern Medina, the riad lists a panoramic terrace, hammam, pools, restaurant and help arranging transfers or excursions. Its position takes more route planning than an address beside Jemaa el-Fna.
The listing showed 9.8/10 from 205 reviews, including 10 for staff. Why choose it: exceptionally rated service and a property that becomes part of the experience. Accept that: it belongs to a higher budget tier and the route needs learning. See the listing and conditions
Riad Kniza — heritage and calm near Bab Doukkala
In what its listing describes as an 18th-century Moroccan house, Riad Kniza lies near Bab Doukkala. It offers a pool, sauna, hammam, restaurant and traditionally decorated rooms.
Booking.com showed 9.4/10 from 969 reviews. Why choose it: character, common spaces and a position between the Medina and new town. Accept that: the listing gives a roughly 25-minute walk to Jemaa el-Fna. See the listing and conditions
