A good riad for a couples’ trip is not necessarily the one with the most rose petals or the largest pool. We focused instead on a pleasant evening atmosphere, a location that makes returning simple, common spaces worth spending time in and a level of service that makes sense for the price.

This is not the result of anonymous stays conducted by Portovierno. It is an editorial comparison of public information, primarily Booking.com listings checked on 13 September 2026.

The shortlist

  • Riad Idra: for Dar El Bacha, calm and exceptionally strong feedback.
  • Riad Joya: for a small, very central address near Jemaa el-Fna.
  • Riad Palais Sebban: for architecture, pools and a rooftop.
  • Riad Kniza: for traditional character and a slower stay.
  • Riad Matham: for a balance of location, pool and extensive positive feedback.

Riad Idra — a calmer Dar El Bacha base

Riad Idra on Booking.com sits in Dar El Bacha in the Medina. Its listing places it roughly ten minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna and showed 9.6/10 from around 360 reviews, with a 9.7 location score when checked.

Why choose it as a couple: Dar El Bacha keeps you central without putting the room directly beside the square, and the review volume is large enough to provide more than a handful of impressions.

Check: the exact room category, which side it faces and the terms attached to spa or treatment services if these matter to your stay.

Riad Joya — a small address close to the square

Riad Joya on Booking.com is in Mouassine, around 300 metres from Jemaa el-Fna according to its listing. Booking.com showed 9.4/10 from roughly 130 reviews and a location score around 9.6.

It suits couples who want to walk home after dinner and prefer a smaller property to a large hotel. The terrace, restaurant and 24-hour reception also simplify a short stay.

Accept that: the review base is smaller than for the best-known riads in this list. Read the newest comments about noise, the room itself and late-night arrival.

Riad Palais Sebban — architecture and common spaces

Riad Palais Sebban on Booking.com is in Laksour, about five minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna and Koutoubia Mosque according to its listing. Booking.com showed 9.2/10 from more than 1,700 reviews and 9.7 for location.

The property lists two pools, a panoramic roof terrace, hammam, massages and a restaurant. Of these five, it is one of the easiest places to treat the riad itself as part of the trip.

Check: the exact room, its exposure and what “pool” means for your dates. In a riad, a courtyard plunge pool is not always designed for swimming laps.

Riad Kniza — heritage and a slower rhythm

Riad Kniza on Booking.com occupies a traditional 18th-century Moroccan building near Bab Doukkala. Its listing showed 9.4/10 from roughly 970 reviews, with particularly strong comfort and staff scores.

A pool, sauna, hammam and restaurant make it attractive if you want to spend more time at the property. Its position, farther from Jemaa el-Fna than Laksour or Mouassine, can also work in favour of a calmer stay.

Accept that: the listing gives roughly 25 minutes on foot to Jemaa el-Fna. On a very short first visit, decide whether that fits your pace.

Riad Matham — the rounded Medina compromise

Riad Matham on Booking.com is in Kaat Ben Nahid. Its listing gives roughly eight minutes on foot to Jemaa el-Fna and lists a roof terrace, steam bath and indoor pool. Booking.com showed a score around 9.6/10 with more than 750 reviews.

For two people it is a strong middle ground: central enough for walking, while still offering real places to pause between outings.

Check: pool dimensions and depth, access through the final lane and the hours or terms attached to massage and dining services.

Which one fits your trip?

For a very short first weekend, Riad Joya or Palais Sebban reduce walking around Jemaa el-Fna. For a calmer mood, look at Riad Idra or Kniza. If you want to alternate sightseeing with time at the riad, Matham and Palais Sebban are the most natural fits.

Before booking, check four things: the taxi drop-off point, the final walk with luggage, room orientation and cancellation terms. In Marrakech, properties only a few hundred metres apart can have very different arrival logistics.
